India Lockdown — Day 1

We Indians are terrified of our Prime Minister’s 8PM speeches. All his “remarkable” endeavors have always been announced at 8 in the night, and with such a vigour that we all crumble into pieces when he finally says those words! I’m not even kidding. Ask any netizen, how much we are afraid of the word, ‘Mitron’.

So yesterday, at 8PM, we were told of the 21 days of complete lockdown nationwide. Yes! A population of 1.3 Billion has to stay inside. No aartis in the temple and no chai suttas in the corner after office. Kaput. Because most of us were in anticipation of such an inevitable announcement, many of my fellow mates, who are in work cities and away from families, took off to their respective hometowns, in a voyage of infiltration and selfishness! Yes i am being harsh on words here because i stayed and put others safety over my comfort. And i am proud of it. Anyways, long story short- I’m in a rented flat with 3 other mates without enough grocery and lack of culinary expertise.

Today we cleaned our hall(the drawing room). Now we can at-least travel via feet from bedroom to hall and have a relaxing evening chai and bitch about China and how the Communist government allegedly planned this pandemic. This lockdown is giving me anxiety that i’m gonna put on even more weight, because the only good habit i’ve inculcated so far in life is to read and that doesn’t require me to move my feet. FML! I see videos of people dancing to Cult Fit Live classes in their homes or doing a routine reps inside their bedrooms these days. How the heck are these people so motivated to sweat and feel smelly!! My only hope now is the lack of groceries and food on the table will make me lose weight. F*ck what a terrible thing to say! What is wrong with me?

Pointless meanderings apart, i hope something good comes out of this lockdown for me and everybody else out there. I’ll head to the kitchen now and make myself a healthy, “pro-protein paneer” curry which i’m gonna eat without rotis! Stay inside. Stay healthy.
